About Me

I grew up in Canada and moved to New Zealand in the 80’s. I started my business known then as Fitness Unlimited Aerobics, which, rapidly expanded to two centres in Auckland and franchises in four major cities. In 1996, I reinvented Fitness Unlimited and opened NZ’s first boutique personal training studio in St Heliers, Auckland.

One-on-one training is proven to be the most effective method for learning any skill. With fitness in mind, it is the quality of training more than the quantity that will gain the best results.

Your exercise programme will be designed to suit you as a person along with your specific aims and goals. I’ll be with you every step of the way to explain why and how to do each exercise. It is important to know that you are in competent hands, particularly if you have any past or existing structural conditions which may be painful.

Posture & Movement Improvement are my specialities:

These and many similar conditions have faulty movement patterns and painful postural habits at their root. Pain is a drain on energy, both physically and mentally. Thankfully, these patterns can be changed and more healthy habits formed.

Thirty years of experience teaching exercise, plus my dance and gymnastics background have all contributed to the development of a proven method for teaching correct posture and improving the functional movement of my clients.

With my guidance, you will experience notably improved posture and movement within 6 – 12 weeks. By this time, your new posture will feel normal and natural. You will understand how to use your body correctly for the things you do in your day to day life, so they will become easier and feel better.

Effective movement and posture has many benefits:

How to get started & what to expect

It all begins with you making contact to arrange a mutually suitable time for a no-obligation meet and greet.

Our meet and greet

We will begin with a grand tour of the studio and facilities and then discuss what it is that you want to achieve. I will explain what I believe is likely to be involved with achieving your desired outcomes.

This is an opportunity for you to ask questions and gather the information you need before deciding to move forward.

Your first appointment

The first appointment is all about me gathering the information I need for your personalised programme. We start with explicitly specifying your goals; this ensures we both know exactly where we’re headed and can measure progress along the way.

Depending on your goals, I may need to ask questions to establish your medical profile, structural profile or both. In some instances I will require medical or physiotherapist clearance. It is important that any work we do is complementary and supportive of any other physical treatments you may be undergoing.

 

Any physical assessments we do will pertain to your specific outcomes; for example, I won’t ask to measure your weight and fat percent when your outcome is improving posture. I will then get a picture of your lifestyle and available time. From this, I will then plan a step by step programme.

Regular sessions

When we begin your regular exercise sessions, we will work to your personalised programme, following prescribed exercises and ensuring you understand thoroughly the why and how of what you are doing. I am with you the whole time to ensure you have good form, a thorough understanding and total confidence in the work you are doing.

I will maintain a written record of the results, session by session, so you will be able to see concrete data and evidence of the progress you are making. Many clients find themselves pleasantly surprised by the progress they make in a relatively short space of time.

Pricing Schedule and Payment Options

Pricing Schedule

The following pricing is for personal training with me in my studio in Frankleigh Park.

Pricing is inclusive of GST, towels, water and use of private changing and shower facilities etc.

I sign my clients up for terms of 10 sessions at $550/term. This assumes training a minimum of twice a week.

Personal Training Conditions of Service

1. Payment Options - I accept payment by cash, internet banking or automatic payment.

2. Payment in Advance -Sessions need to be paid for in advance by one of the methods described above.

3. Arriving On Time - Sessions are pre-booked and clients are best to arrive on time or 5 minutes before to be ready to start at the scheduled time. I need to start and finish sessions on time so as to be ready for the next client. I ask that clients aim to keep to their schedule and discuss any major changes they desire well in advance.

4. Rescheduling Appointments - If you need to change the time of your appointment, please let me know as soon as possible.

5. Refund Policy - Any unused sessions will be refunded.

6. Pricing Subject to Change - Prices may change in the future – I will always give plenty of notice of any pricing changes.

7. Client Suitability - Unfortunately not all the personal training services I offer are suitable for every individual. Where possible I will advise where to go to for help in the cases where I am unable to assist.

Some years ago I fell off a pushbike and fractured four vertebrae. The timing for this couldn’t have been worse because in a couple of months I had a trip to the UK and Europe planned and my flights were already booked and paid for.
